Famine in East Africa

Famine in East Africa – 35,550 € for sustainable drinking water and food supply

Drought and lack of grain supplies due to the Ukraine war have led to a terrible situation in many African countries. Especially the countries in the Horn of Africa are in the middle of a famine catastrophe.

In a concerted effort, the chairpersons of all African country committees have therefore launched a fundraising campaign to improve the supply of drinking water and food to the drought-stricken people.

35,550 euros were donated. We thank all those who supported the relief action against famine in Africa with a donation!

The money will be used to improve water supplies in the most drought-affected regions of Northern Kenya, South Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea and Ethiopia, and to support measures to secure peace between communities that are in conflict over water and grazing land. In addition to the provision of food, water transport, the repair of boreholes, the construction of wells and the establishment of water points for animals are important project measures. The use of drought-resistant seeds also helps to ensure the long-term survival of people and animals at the Horn of Africa.

The measures are implemented by local project partners of Caritas International.
