Welcome to the Homepage of the Intercountry Committee Egypt - Germany

Egypt’s population presently amounts more than 100 million with an average age of 24. A population of such magnitude provides Egypt with a considerable influence in the Arab world both politically and economically. On the other hand, the rapid growth of Egypt’s population leads to a definite increase in city slums and poverty areas, hand in hand with a deficit of schooling and job training for youngsters, in particular for young females. In the past, a number of German Rotary and Rotaract Clubs have started Matching Grant projects together with Egyptian clubs and organizations, with a view to solving problems of this type, and have indeed accomplished results. Another centre of gravity for Matching Grant Projects and, since 2013/14, for Global Grants is to connect outlying settlements with drink water systems, an overall project which will help to improve the hygienic conditions for their inhabitants concerned.

With their engagement in these fields, the partners of the Intercountry Committee Egypt, as directed by the German Board of District Governors, attempt to further foreign relations and to fortify the friendship among people of different nationalities. As recommended by Rotary International to Intercountry Committees, international friendship meetings are organized, World Community- and other Projects are initiated.

Matching Grant Projekt "Förderung der Ausbildung junger Frauen in Ägypten"

The German section of Intercountry Committee Egypt is engaged in collecting and distributing information in the fields indicated for the benefit of all interested parties. Information on completed and current Matching Grant and Global Grant Projects is extracted from the meeting reports of the clubs concerned, compiled and distributed. In contact with our Rotarian friends in Egypt social projects are being investigated and published.
