August 2012 Help for Injured Demonstrators in Egypt

Practical and Immediate Help

A number of the demonstrators back in 2011 had to be hospitalized due to severe eye injuries. The waiting lists for operations were quite long, and in many cases no funds for the purchase of necessary articles for effective treatment were available.

Upon a request received from members of RC Cairo Rhein-Nile, a number of German clubs decided to help out (RC München-Englischer Garten, RC München-Land, RC Usingen). They collected money to finance articles and materials required to perform the necessary operations.

Help for needy and sick children in Luxor

A sum of 3.200 US$ was the unspent surplus left over from funds intended for the realization of Project “Education for young women” handled by RC München-Englischer Garten, RC München-Land and RC Cairo Giza. It came in handy when the project was completed. The money was donated to “The Little Pyramid”, an association for their social work in caring for needy and sick children. The wife of a club member participates in the activities of the association and reports the pertinent use of the funds.
