We had a dream; A world with healthy children who are able to achieve sustainable development goals. A goal that can only be achieved through health and education. We did it. With the Rotary Floating Hospital, the first of its kind in the MENA region, we started a successful journey into a better future for our children and mothers in the Upper Egyptian governorates from March 1 to April 30, 2019.
With an integrated model that covers different focuses, the Floating Hospital started its first round - driven by Rotary Egypt - with 18 medical clinics covering a wide range of different medical specialties, as well as supporting units, including an internal laboratory and scan centers and a pharmacy that provides comprehensive basic and advanced medical care around the clock
The main focus remained on pediatric care and support for the children, apart from a secondary goal of supporting mothers and carers, which can be achieved through awareness-raising sessions, training seminars and community support programs. The medical specializations covered all needs.
The first round of the floating hospital has been completed, exceeding the target number of beneficiaries (50,000 people) to reach a total of 66,250 children.
February 14, 2020 marks the start of the second tour of the Floating Hospital, in which the most urgently needed children and mothers in the most urgently needed places in Upper Egypt will return again this year with the Rotary flag and reach more than 70,000 beneficiaries
